The People
Charles Darwin
Challenge--> The challenges encountered by Charles Darwin were when he was at his 22 years of voyage on the Beagle Darwin. He encountered many different animals that were of the same species but each of them had different characteristics that helped it survived in this environment and got his idea of natural selection. He recorded his ideas in his notebooks on the 'Transmutation of species'.
Achievements--> In November 1859, Darwin published The Origin of Species in which he proposed his ideas of evolution. The first edition was sold out on the first day of production and by 1860 over 5000 copies have been sold. In this book Darwin explained his theories of evolutions and natural selection. There was an immediate support and controversy over his work. Darwin instead of jumping into the very middle discussions about his book, he stood back and let others fights the battles for him. People celebrated Darwin's life and belived that he escorted a new age of Science. He recived the honors of being elected the Royal Society in 1839 and elected the French Academy of Sciences in 1878.
