Trip to Sengkang Floating Wetland

On 27 October 2011, we went to the Sengkang floating wetland for an outdoor learning experience. We did a water testing activity there. First, we took some water from the reservoir using a container. After smelling and observing the water, we compared the colour of the water with a chart concluded the turbidity of the water. We also measure the temperature of the water using a thermometer and poured some water into two tubes, added two different pills to the tubes, shook them until the pills dissolve and the outcome of the water in both tubes allow us to find out the dissolved oxygen and ph value respectively. We have learnt how to do water testing activities and teamwork . We also some pictures of the plants in the wetland. They are the Papyrus Reed, Canna and Narrow-leafed Cattail respectively. The Papyrus Reed is tall and robust, it can grow 4 to 5m, the Canna is a large-flowered, bright garden plant and agricultural plant while the Narrow-leafed Cattail has flat and narrow leaves they have distinctive stalks that are about as tall as the leaves at maturity.
